These beers will be featured on tap, infused or by the cask. While you savour these rare brews enjoy a selection of locally sourced meats Barbequed by Chef Bill Taylor. We’ve loved hosting Hoppapalooza at the Alibi Room over the past 5 years, but this year we wanted to try something a little different: A little more focus on the live music in a bigger venue, and a focused beer menu. Darlings of the Portland beer scene, Gigantic Brewing will be takin’ over the taps of the Cobalt with special guests Brassneck, Parallel 49, and Strange Fellows backing up their hits with some special releases of their own (You can already taste the Awesome right?). The fantastic folks at Zulu Records have line up some epic live music to turn your usual sleepy Sunday afternoon into a real block rocker!

JUST ANNOUCNED – Music by the amazing DADA PLAN, SLOW LEARNERS, and SPOON RIVER along with DJs Ryan Dyck and Nicolas Bragg!

But wait, that’s not all… Railtown Cafe will be rolling out their giant smoker for a “Tailgate Taco Bar” on the back patio of the Cobalt. “This Sandwich, That Beer” will once again be looking to crown the city’s finest sandwich and beer pairing. Upon entry guests will receive the tools needed (glass, plate and ballot) to sample nine sandwich and beer combinations from some of the best restaurants and breweries around! Participating breweries include Postmark, 33 Acres, Brassneck, Powell Street, Steel & Oak, Yellow Dog, Dageraad, Strange Fellows, and Townsite. Participating sandwich masters include Belgard Kitchen, Calabash, Pronto Cafe, Railtown Cafe, Merchant’s Oyster Bar, Tasty Torpedo, Hand Taste Ferments, Timber and The Portside Pub. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the 2015 Aprons for Gloves for East Side Boxing!

Eight of Vancouver’s top bartenders will square off at The Blackbird with only bar tools and creativity to create a beer cocktail using Driftwood Brewing’s New Growth Pale Ale, and spirits from Corby Distillers. The Prize? A trip for two to visit the Great American Beer Festival in Denver Colorado! The night’s featured brewers will be Ben Love of Gigantic Brewery, Gary Lohin of Surrey’s Central City Brewing, Jaime Floyd of Ninkasi brewing, and Graham With of Parallel 49 brewing.
